Marco Reus is back. And it comes at the perfect time for Borussia Dortmund. But as always, fans will wonder what’s next.
But after 259 days away from the pitch, he’s back. And on Saturday, Dortmund would get a much-needed victory over Hamburg. It wouldn’t be over until late, but a 2-0 scoreline certainly flatters Hamburg, who appear to be heading towards relegation this season. If Hamburg were to get relegated, it’d mark the first time in the club’s history that they were out of the top-flight.
But enough about that. Let’s talk about Marco Reus. Moreover, let’s talk about the impact he makes when he’s healthy. Across 190 matches for Dortmund, he has found the back of the net 89 times. He has 61 assists to his name as well. But at 28 years old, a mega move probably isn’t on the cards. Not until he can stay on the field for a full season, at least.
But for now, Dortmund is happy to have Reus back. The win places them third in the Bundesliga, one point off Leipzig and one ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt. As for Reus, all eyes will be on him the rest of the way. And who knows? Perhaps he can make the German squad for the 2018 World Cup.
After all, time is running out.
