The Duke Blue Devils are good. Perhaps that will go down as the understatement of the day, but it’s true. The thing is—early on in this college basketball season, they’ve had to earn it.
A couple of weeks ago, Duke would edge No. 2 Michigan State by a final of 88-81. Then this past weekend, they had to rally—twice. The first rally would come against Texas. It took overtime, and coming back from 16 down in the second half, but Coach K’s side got the job done. And freshman Marvin Bagley III (34 points, 15 rebounds) was largely the reason why.
Then, No. 7 Florida would get their shot. But ultimately, like so many others before them, they’d come up short. Bagley, once again, was front and center. He added 30 more points and 15 rebounds, but this time had some help.
There might actually only be a handful of good college basketball teams this season. But, as is often the case, the Blue Devils are one of them. And that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
