The Champions League semi-finals are set. And while it’s perhaps not what we expected, there’s plenty of fun to be had.
Roma, coming off their historic three-goal comeback over Barcelona, take on Liverpool. But remember, Liverpool are coming off their own impressive quarterfinalaa drubbing of soon-to-be Premier League champions Manchester City.
But that’s far from all.
Why Real Madrid are having a very mediocre domestic season, they have a chance at a UCL three-peat. However, they will have to go through Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich to get that chance. But here’s the thing: Madrid own Bayern in recent seasons. This Champions League campaigns marks the third consecutive time in which the two sides face off. But more than that, Bayern has five elimination solely at the hands of Madrid. Unsurprisingly, that’s more than any other European opponent. And yet the most interesting thing? Each side has 11 wins against each other across 24 European bouts. Who will jump ahead this time?
Meanwhile, Liverpool have lost just one of their previous five matches against Roma.
So, who do you fancy in the Champions League semi-finals? Are we going to get a chance to see a three-peat, or will Bayern finally finish the job against Madrid? From a personal preference, Liverpool/Roma seems like a much more fascinating battle. Plus, Mo Salah returning to Italy should make for some fun.
Dates are not available at this time. But don’t let that stop you from preparing for these fixtures.
