It’s been a weird season for Leicester City. Right now, they are eighth in the Premier League on 40 points. But it’s a far cry from their title-winning season. Not only that, but Riyad Mahrez has been part of multiple transfer sagas over the past several months. Eventually, that would lead to a self-imposed exile from the squad.
But Mahrez defends that.
“In football, players come, players leave, I’m not saying I’m coming or going. We always talk between me and the club, everything is good, so we will see in the summer if things come. At the moment I’m a Leicester player.”
And he reiterates that this was a necessary move.
“I was away from here because I needed some time to think, it was a difficult situation. … Manchester City is a good move for everyone but it is the past. It is behind me.”
Now, however, Mahrez is looking forward.
“…It won’t affect me, so I don’t know why they try to do that. I think everyone knew it had been hacked.”
Mahrez is still very important to this Leicester City side. But is he part of their future?
