Aaron Judge, unanimously, is your 2017 MLB AL Rookie of the Year. How could it be unanimous, you ask? Well, actually, you shouldn’t have to ask.
Judge would go on to lead the AL in runs (128), home runs (52) and walks (127). Of course, he would also lead said league in strikeouts (208). But a .284/.422/.627 (1.049 OPS) typically cancels out such blemishes. Plus, an 8.2-fWAR is nothing to scoff at.
His New York Yankees finished 91-71 on the season—second in the AL East. However, they continued to overachieve come October. But while they didn’t ultimately claim baseball’s biggest prize, there’s plenty to like about their future.
And the 25-year-old Judge is bound to be a crucial part of it.
