The Chicago Cubs are off to another mediocre start. But even their win on Sunday didn’t come without a scare. With two outs in the first inning, and two strikes on him, Kris Bryant would take a pitch to the head.

But thankfully, there’s an update on Chicago’s third baseman. And it’s very good news, for what it’s worth. Here’s the official statement from the Cubs:
“Kris Bryant was examined upon exiting todayas game and has passed all tests thus far.”
But the Cubs don’t stop there.
“He has a small laceration above his eye from his sunglasses, but has shown no signs of a concussion.”
That doesn’t mean he’s out of the woods just yet, of course. And the staff will continue evaluating Bryant as the week goes on. But for now, this is a good thing. In the meantime, the Cubs are 10-9 on the young season. And while this is far below their expectations, we all know they can turn it on at just about any point.
