On Wednesday, Colorado third baseman Nolan Arenado would charge the mound. That’s because San Diego starter Luis Perdomo would throw at him, prompting a bench-clearing brawl. But now the league has come down on both participants. Arenado will receive a five-game suspension while Perdomo also gets five.
But they aren’t the only ones receiving a ban for their actions. In fact, two others are receiving suspensions for their roles as well.
“Nolan Arenado (5 games), Luis Perdomo (5 games), Gerardo Parra (4 games) and Buddy Baumann (1 game) suspended and fined for benches-clearing incident in Wednesdayas Rockies-Padres game.”
Just don’t throw at people’s heads, okay? It’s that simple. Or at the very least, it should be. In the meantime, the Padres are off to a rough start (4-10) following a promising season. And the Rockies, a wild card entrant last year, are off to a mediocre start (7-7).
Over his last three seasons, Arenado is slashing .297/.353/.577 with 121 doubles, 120 home runs and three gold gloves. He has seen himself finish in the top 10 in MVP voting the past three seasons as well.
