If this is just the beginning of the return of Isaiah Thomas, Cleveland’s about to have some fun. In some ways, the Cavaliers have a brand new player. And in their 127-110 victory over Portland Tuesday night, the point guard would impress. Playing just 19 minutes, Thomas would put up 17 points on 50 percent shooting along with three assists.
But even he didn’t expect to play that well.
“I didn’t think I’d play as well as I did.”
Meanwhile, LeBron James didn’t know what to expect either. However, he didn’t doubt for one second that the Cleveland faithful would welcome their man with open arms.
“The only thing I knew was what was going to happen when he came in, that these fans would give him the ovation he had been waiting on and that he deserved.”
Thomas, of course, is still on a minutes restriction. Therefore, he will not be suiting up Wednesday night when the Cavaliers take on his former teamathe Boston Celtics. Something tells us it’s going to be worth the wait. In the meantime, the Cavs trail Boston by 3.5 games.
