LaVar Ball just doesn’t know when to quit.
Right now, the Lakers are without their rookie point guard in Lonzo Ball. That’s because he’s still out recovering from an injury. Meanwhile, his brothers LaMelo and LiAngelo are playing in Lithuania. But LaVar is already thinking ahead. More than that, he’s thinking about the future of both LaMelo and LiAngelo.
That’s where this outrageous ultimatum comes from.
“I want all my three boys to play for the Lakers.”
And buddy, I would like to purchase my weight in ice cream sandwiches. But I don’t have that kind of disposable income. And don’t worry, LaVar doesn’t stop there.
“But if that does not happen, I’m telling you the story what’s gonna happen first. If they don’t take Gelo this year, I bring Gelo back here (Prienai) to play with Melo for two years. Lonzo will be on his third year and I want to let every NBA team know, Lonzo is not going to re-sign with the Lakers but will go to any team that will take all three of my boys. That’s my plan.”
Sounds great, man. It’s always a good plan to threaten the team your son plays for. Here’s the thing: Lonzo isn’t good enough yet to the point where someone gets a pass for making comments like this. And even if he was, this crosses a line. For starters, we don’t know that either LiAngelo or LaMelo are as good as Lonzo.
But that hasn’t stopped LaVar Ball from shooting his mouth off before. Why would it now?
