Rumors of the Cavaliers demise were greatly exaggerated. Thursday night, LeBron James and his crew would surge past the Hawks—121-114. And in doing so, would increase their winning streak to an NBA-best 10 games.
But it isn’t supposed to end there. The Cavaliers take on the struggling Memphis Grizzlies next. And, LeBron knows they will need to guard against complacency.
“Saturday, it’s another struggling team, and we understand that. But we understand we’re going to get their best in Memphis, so we look forward to the challenge.”
For now, this is Cleveland’s longest regular-season streak since the beginning of the 2015-16 campaign. However, they would also win 10 in a row in consecutive postseasons (2016, 2017). So, this type of success is nothing new for the LeBron-led team. But it is a little different this time.
After all, the Cavaliers would begin the season 5-7. Now they’re right back where we all believed they’d be at the start of the season. And we shouldn’t assume they’re about to slow down.
