The Cleveland Cavaliers are in free-fall. But LeBron James isn’t looking for a way out.
“As NBA teams do their due diligence on his no-trade clause and the potential of him dropping it, LeBron James remains determined to see the season through in Cleveland and will not waive the clause, league sources told Yahoo Sports.”
Right now, there are all sorts of problems going on in Cleveland. But the worst part is that there’s no easy answer. Kevin Love is hurt. Meanwhile, Isaiah Thomas hasn’t been himself since returning to more of a full-time role. And simply, no matter how good he is, LeBron cannot do anything. But at least the king wants to stay throughAthis season.
“Cleveland has attempted to behave as a buyer at the trade deadline, but the first approach toward a possible rebuild would be to examine trading the teamas core players.”
The report goes on to say that it’s a conversation the Cavaliers have not had with LeBron yet. But here’s the thing.
“Over the past several days, teams around the league have openly wondered about whether Cleveland would look into James dropping his no-trade a which would clear the way for a potential pursuit. However, James remains solely focused on competing for a championship in Cleveland this season and evaluating his future after the season ends.”
That’s all well and good, of course. But there’s nothing stopping LeBron from leaving after this season.
