At 11-11, the New Orleans Pelicans are already on the fringes of the Western Conference postseason hopefuls. But Friday night may have dealt them the most serious of blows. That is—Anthony Davis being out for an extended period of time.

Now that doesn’t mean the end of the world, of course. At this point in time, we don’t know. But Friday night against the Utah Jazz, Davis would suffer what looked like a very serious groin injury. Now all we can do is wait. He is scheduled to get an MRI this weekend.
Again, the Pelicans are 11-11 on the season. And, are losers of their previous three contests. There’s no good time for an injury. Especially when that injury happens to your superstar. On the season, Davis is averaging 25 points and 11 rebounds.
Could this be the end of the Pelicans’ season already?
