The Utah Jazz are going to have Donovan Mitchell for Game 2 after all. Despite suffering a foot injury in Utah’s loss to OKC Sunday, his MRI would come back clean.
“Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell underwent an MRI on his left foot and the results came back negative, league sources tell ESPN. He will play in Game 2 on Wednesday.”
In his playoff debut, Mitchell would go for 27 points and 10 rebounds while adding three assists, two steals and a block over 35 minutes. Not only that, but he’s the first player since LeBron James to post 25 points and 10 rebounds in a playoff debut. That’s okay company, right? But even after the game, Mitchell would downplay his foot injury.
“I feel fine. I just stubbed my toe, nothing major.”
Needless to say, he just really wants to play. And we cannot blame him. These are the NBA playoffs, after all.
But can he and the Jazz earn a split in OKC? We’ll find out Wednesday night.
