Last week, the New York Giants would remove Eli Manning from the starting QB role. Thus, his streak of 210 consecutive starts would be snapped. In favor Geno Smith, no less.
Then on Monday, the Giants would fire head coach Ben McAdoo and GM Jerry Reese. So, would you believe it if there was yet another layer to this? Well as a matter of fact, there is. Because the mess needs to get messier, of course. So, what exactly are the Giants dealing with here?
Well, hours after McAdoo and Reese would receive their walking papers, Manning was named the starter. No, seriously. That’s happening. So… yeah… good job, Giants.
Now, I know exactly what you’re thinking. You’re thinking—what’s the point, right? The Giants are a disaster this season. Their season, as such, is effectively over. They are 2-10 and coming off of another loss. Would Geno Smith starting another game truly be the worst thing?
Well, probably not. But taking Manning out of the role for a week seems even more pointless now.
