It’s tough to see any injury take place. But head, neck or spinal? That’s a special kind of worrying.
Monday Night Football’s matchup between Pittsburgh and Cincinnati would provide plenty of fireworks. However, not all of them would be grand. And, one in particular became extremely worrying quite quickly.
During the first quarter, Steelers’ linebacker Ryan Shazier would suffer a scary spinal injury. Additionally, he would have to stay in a Cincinnati Hospital while is teammates traveled back to Pittsburgh to prepare for Baltimore.
But now, there appears to be at least a little good news. For starters, Shazier is back in Pittsburgh. As for an update, however? Well, that’s a little tougher to come by.
“He will continue tests and evaluations before his medical team provides any further updates on his condition.”
That came from part of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ official statement. Teammates say that Shazier is “progressing, positive and upbeat” but concern remains, of course. Spinal injuries are no joke. But as of now, surgery is not on the table.
And all we can do now is continue keeping him in our thoughts. So while he continues to make a recovery, that’s what we’re going to do.
UPDATE: The Steelers announced Thursday that Ryan Shazier underwent spinal stabilization surgery Wednesday evening.
