The Colorado Rockies are taking care of their own. On Wednesday afternoon, the Rockies would sign Charlie Blackmon to a 6-year extension.

Blackmon deal Breakdown:
2018: $12 million + $2 million signing bonus;
2019-21: $21 million;
2022: $21 million player option;
2023: $10 million Player Option, subject to MVP Award/PA incentives worth a potential $8 million more

The Rockies, of course, are coming off a wild card appearance in 2017. And they figure to be pretty good going forward. As for Blackmon, however, he is having a great stint with Colorado in his own right. Over an eight-year career, he is slashing .305/.360/.500. But it’s the past two seasons that would prompt this extension: .327/.390/.578 with 70 doubles, 19 triples, 66 home runs and 31 stolen bases.
Needless to say, Colorado is committed to winning. And what more can you ask for from a smaller market?
