RB Leipzig’s Champions League hopes are fading down the stretch, but there’s still some good news. German striker Timo Werner, a future star for the national team, is staying put.
At least for now.
“I have a contract until 2020 and I feel good at Leipzig. … I will stay here next season whatever the case.”
That’s great news for Leipzig, but we know how this goes. For starters, he’s a huge talent. Secondly, he’s at a lesser European club. Additionally, Bayern Munich is at the top and Robert Lewandowski isn’t getting any younger.
But for now, Werner is a Leipzig player. And that’s all that matters. This season he has 17 goals and 5 assists across all competitions (35 matches). Last season (across 32 matches), he would finish with 21 goals and 7 assists.
