It appears as though Landon Donovan has ended his retirement.

The USMNT legend hasn’t played since the 2016 MLS season, scoring just once over nine appearances. Before that, he would last play during the 2014 campaign—tallying 13 goals and assisting 15 more. It’s rare to see the 35-year-old venture outside of MLS, but that’s just what’s happening here.
León would finish seventh a season ago and eighth the season before that. Is Donovan going to be a difference-maker going forward? Or, is he just going to serve in a mentor-type role? There’s no way of knowing just yet. But the joint-top USMNT scorer is a name that’s nothing but familiar to Mexico.
Here’s to seeing what the 35-year-old has left in the tank.
