UFC 217 would give mixed martial arts fans a little bit of everything.
Rose Namajunas would make Joanna Jędrzejczyk tap due to strikes. In the first round, no less. And in doing so, capture the women’s strawweight championship.
Not only that, but hot-shot TJ Dillashaw would reclaim his bantamweight championship by knocking out Cody Garbrandt in the second round. This, after losing said title back in January 2016.
And of course, Georges St-Pierre—after not fighting since November 2013—would make his return to he octagon.
What a return it would turn out to be. Fighting for the middleweight championship against Michael Bisping, the two fighters looked to have split the first two rounds. Then nearly four and a half minutes into Round 3, GSP got Bisping to tap. How, you ask? Well a rear-naked choke, of course.
Can you say ‘greatest of all time?’ So, what’s next for GSP? Only time will tell. For the time being, it’s good to see him back doing his thing.
