Yesterday, news broke that former UFC champion Jon Jones had passed a polygraph test. But it doesn’t stop there. In fact, said test was an attempt to prove that Jones did not knowingly take a steroid ahead of UFC 214. That’s when he would square off against Daniel Cormier, of course.
So on Thursday, when DC was asked about it, he wasted no time in shutting that all down.
“Jon Jones took a polygraph test to prove his innocence, and I’m going to say this: Ted Bundy passed a polygraph test a and then killed the f–king guy that was giving it to him.”
Another acceptable answer would have been Gary Ridgwayathe ‘Green River Killer’. Nonetheless, DC did his homework. Polygraph tests can be pretty unreliable. But here’s the biggest takeaway, per theScore’sAThemistoklis Alexis:
“Jones was not asked to take the test by the UFC or the USADA, and its findingsAmight not be admissibleAin next month’s hearing with California State Athletic Commission. As a repeat offender, he could be suspended for up to four years.”
Does DC have a point? Does Jones have a way back into the UFC? Moreoverashould he? It’s unlikely. But, never say never inawait, wrong industry.
Meanwhile, Cormierareinstated as light heavyweight champion after Jones’ failureadefends his crown Saturday. His opponent?AVolkan Oezdemir, who holds an impressive MMA record of 16-1.AOezdemir would go on to finish 12 of his career fights. 11 by knockout and 1 other by submission.
So look out, Cormier. It’s going to take more thanAOezdemir failing a drug test to lose this one. Then again, Cormier wouldn’t have it any other way.
UFC 220 kicks off at 7:00 ET on Saturday night. Who ya got?
