All the USMNT needed Tuesday night against Trinidad and Tobago was a draw. Then, they would have automatically qualified for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Forget about Panama defeating Costa Rica. Forget about Honduras defeating Mexico. All the USMNT needed to do was DRAW against T&T. Instead, they lost. And Panama won. And Honduras won.
If this doesn’t force big, big changes, we’ll know for certain that US Soccer simply doesn’t care. This has to do it. Not qualifying for the World Cup for the first time since 1986 has to be the last straw.
Or we can just keep making excuses. At least we know Taylor Twellman won’t be joining you. Instead, he’ll be saying what’s needed to be said for years:
